dcammueGood morning resl jgurara and gabriel_jetro 10:47
thomasboimah has quit (None)10:49
tboimah has quit (Remote host closed the connection)10:50
jelknerSince arriving in Liberia, I've been working with Jetro members to set up infrastructure (the dreaded Starlink ;-) needed to run their co-op and beginning to plan for the organization that could own land for a school. This week I will continue with that. No immediate blockers.11:00
zOnnyGood morning everyone11:00
jelknerACTION done11:00
jelknerGood morning zOnny!11:00
thomasboimahGood morning zOnny !11:00
jelknerSo good to chat with you from Liberia11:00
jelknerzOnny: please let me know what you'd like me to do while i'm here.11:01
dcammueGood morning zOnny 11:01
zOnnyThis week I've been working on the Next Systems AMS, making progress and keeping things moving forward. On top of that, I've also been looking into some updates made to the Business Tracker. Overall, things are going smoothly and I'm excited about the direction we're heading. As of now, I have no blockers.11:01
zOnnyACTION done11:01
jelkneri now can have long conversations with the Jetro web members11:01
jelkneri was hoping gabriel_jetro would be here now11:02
jelkneri've gotten to talk with him a bunch this past week11:02
zOnnyjelkner: nice, good to see you working side by side with them11:02
jelknerhe says he really wants to be part of the dev team11:02
zOnny+111:02
jelknerand i told him that means working with thomasboimah and zOnny 11:02
jelknerhe's not here now11:03
jelknerbut i'll mention again how important saturday morning meetings are for him11:03
zOnnyjelkner: sounds good11:03
jelknerif you have nothing else for me now, i'll you work, and get back to my emails and curriculum work11:04
zOnnyjelkner: unfortunately saturdays and Sundays are my available time to catch up with them11:04
jelkneryes, my friend, we know11:04
zOnnyjelkner: how is the bandwidth?11:04
jelknerbtw, zOnny those two days are best for me during the school year too11:04
jelknerbandwidth is *amazing* now11:04
jelknerthanks to the diabolical trillionaire :-(11:05
jelknerLOL11:05
zOnnyjelkner: are you using starlink?11:05
jelkner+111:05
zOnnyjelkner: how is the office11:06
jelknerwe ( dcammue, thomasboimah and jelkner ) where talking about one other problem we need to solve11:06
gabriel_jetrojelkner: I just waking up from bed I can still make my way there if you want 11:06
jelknercontinuity of electricity11:06
zOnnyjelkner: I read you are planning in moving to another place11:06
jelknergreat to see you gabriel_jetro 11:06
jelkneryou can work from home, what is important is that you are here11:07
jelknerzOnny: they are planning to move, they voted to do that at their business meeting this week11:07
jelknerbut that's not for 5 months or so11:07
zOnnyjelkner: got it11:07
jelknerfor now, what we are talking about is a small solar array so that we don't loose Internet when the power goes out11:08
jelknerwhich it seems to do about 5 times a day11:08
zOnnyjelkner: ah, how often that happens?11:08
jelkneri'm estimating about 5 times a day since i've been here11:08
zOnnyjelkner: my goal with the dev team there is as you mention: 1. a good network and good work environment11:09
jelknerso the probability is too high to effectively attend remote meetings11:09
jelknerzOnny: keep in mind that for the next few years, we will be patching things together and doing the best we can11:10
jelkneri will focus all my energy on the project to build a school that will have reliable solar energy11:10
jelknerbut until then, we do what we can11:10
zOnnyjelkner: that is definitely a big goal since it requires more resources11:11
jelknerin the mean time, the top priority is to get the dev team here generating revenue11:11
jelknerzOnny: my job will be to find gigs11:12
jelkneryour job is to get the team ready11:12
zOnnyjelkner: indeed11:12
jelkneri was thrilled to hear from thomasboimah that he is closely monitoring your AMS work11:12
jelknerhe looks at the commit logs each day11:12
jelknerthat's what a pro does!11:12
jelknerso he is ready to work on that system if and when you need him11:13
zOnnyjelkner: I just want him to be my back bone 11:13
jelkner+111:13
zOnnyjelkner: same for gabriel_jetro 11:13
jelknernice to hear!11:13
jelknershout out to you, gabriel_jetro!11:13
zOnnyjelkner: spreading the tasks should be easy moving forward11:13
jelknerthis is awesome, zOnny 11:14
jelknerok, anything else before i go?11:14
jelknerzOnny: i'll call you tomorrow to talk on the phone11:14
zOnnyjelkner: as you know, my concern was always on how difficult is there to make that happen11:15
jelknerhmmm, i lost you11:15
jelknermake what happen?11:15
zOnnyjelkner: in make deliverables to happen11:15
jelkneroh right11:15
jelknerwell, that's what you're doing now11:16
jelknerso let's keep on keepin' on11:16
zOnnyjelkner: I'm doing it, but sometimes without realizing that isn't as easy as here11:16
jelknerit is important to understand the challenges11:17
zOnnyjelkner: right11:17
jelknerso you can take them into consideration11:17
zOnnyjelkner: thanks for helping with the network11:17
jelknernp11:17
zOnnyjelkner: in our last NWD meeting11:18
dcammueACTION going out for few minutes11:18
zOnnyjelkner: the interns did show up11:18
jelknernice!11:18
jelkneri'll be there next week11:18
zOnnyjelkner: I was just wondering what they will be working on11:18
jelknerlet's talk about that tomorrow over the phone11:19
zOnnyjelkner: I didn't want them to expose our work yet11:19
jelknerbut it's up to you11:19
jelkneri have things for the beginners to do11:19
jelkneranyone who gets beyond that we will turn over to you11:19
zOnnyjelkner: weren't they working on the Grace Hopper project?11:19
jelkneryes11:19
jelknerwe now have so many interns11:19
jelkneri can't answer for all of them11:20
jelknerresl took the time to have on-boarding one-on-one meetings with them this past week11:20
jelknerso she will have a lot to say about this too11:20
zOnnyjelkner: got it11:20
jelkneri can give you a few specifics11:20
zOnnyjelkner: that is helpful since they also would like to have an understanding why they are part of our meetings11:21
jelknerjgurara, kara and ben will continue working on the library reservation system and hopefully the cosmetology reservation system too11:21
jelkneri'm hoping janet and freena can help them on the front end11:21
zOnnyjelkner: +111:22
jelkneri talked with thomasboimah about that, and he agreed we should try that11:22
jelknerdepending on Arya's availability, she may work on that too11:22
zOnnyjelkner: sometimes is better take it into phases11:22
jelkneri'll defer to resl on the other interns11:23
zOnnyjelkner: to avoid conflict11:23
zOnnyjelkner: focus on the project should be back end functional then front-end design11:23
jelknerwe should make this a focus of our meeting next tuesday11:23
jelkner+111:23
jelknerwell, that's *just* what we are doing with the library system11:24
jelknerjgurara, kara and ben made it work11:24
jelknernow we need to make it look nice11:24
zOnnyjelkner: It just a suggestion before getting the front-end attention to this matter11:24
jelkneri'm with you zOnny 11:25
jelknerok, anything else?11:25
zOnnyjelkner: that's all from me11:25
jelknersee you tomorrow, same time, same place11:25
zOnnyjelkner: see you11:25
jelknerACTION signs off until tomorrow11:25
jelkner has quit (Quit: Leaving)11:25
zOnnyHey team, is everyone here?11:26
thomasboimahHello zOnny 11:26
zOnnyHi thomasboimah 11:27
gabriel_jetro+111:27
zOnnyjgurara: are you here?11:27
zOnnynot sure why I still can see other users 11:28
zOnnyalright11:29
zOnnyhow it feels working with Jeff side by side?11:30
gabriel_jetrogreat 11:30
thomasboimahgreat11:30
zOnnygood to know11:31
zOnnyfor me personally his visit is very important since he really wants things to work from that side 11:32
zOnnyI told him that my understanding on their circumstances you all work there is very limited 11:33
zOnnybut I really want to have a better picture of that11:34
zOnnythanks thomasboimah, gabriel_jetro, and dcammue for trying to make it work11:34
zOnnythat's all from me on that matter 11:36
zOnnyso what you all working on?11:36
thomasboimahI been working on some issues that resl been filing , for NWD website, Business Tracker and Secosol11:38
gabriel_jetroI done setting up the libresym on my machine I am currently working on the jcgroup website to add the changes you told me to do11:38
zOnnybtw, not sure how aware you are. I did mention resl about assigning tasks to the jetro team since I can confidently trust you can handle them11:38
zOnnygabriel_jetro: that for bringing focus on it11:39
zOnnygabriel_jetro: I did update the social media for JC pro group while meeting with the client11:40
zOnnygabriel_jetro: but future request from JC Pro Group, I should be able to pass it to you11:41
gabriel_jetroYes I saw it yesterday so I was confused on what to do 11:41
zOnnygabriel_jetro: I want it you to do it but some clients are "Can you update it now"11:42
zOnny**say11:42
gabriel_jetroGot you11:42
zOnnygabriel_jetro: but good that you check the changes there11:42
zOnnygabriel_jetro: that is a good dev skill11:43
zOnnygabriel_jetro: you need to be aware what is happening in the repo11:43
zOnnygabriel_jetro: repos for developers are like the news for others11:43
gabriel_jetro+111:44
zOnnyIt is good to get into that habit11:44
zOnnygabriel_jetro: I assume you are aware of the gitlab tasks, yes?11:47
zOnnythomasboimah: you as well, yes?11:48
gabriel_jetroYes11:48
thomasboimah+111:48
zOnnyplease ask me if you have questions11:48
zOnnyor comment on that task if you need clarification11:49
zOnnyso whoever assign it to you can follow up and make it clear11:49
zOnnyany word from mulbah?11:51
gabriel_jetro-111:56
zOnnyalright12:02
zOnnygabriel_jetro: I saw this task assigned to you https://gitlab.com/novawebdevelopment/libreorganize-customization/libreorganize-themes/-/work_items/912:39
zOnnyI think resl Addressed this issue in her branch https://gitlab.com/novawebdevelopment/libreorganize-customization/libreorganize-themes/-/tree/feat-interns12:40
gabriel_jetroI'll look at it today zOnny 12:56
zOnnygabriel_jetro: cool12:59
zOnnyI made a comment on that issue just in case12:59
gabriel_jetroOkay 12:59
reslI addressed that issue in my branch but then I addressed several other things and I think it was too much to do in one branch because reviewing the changes would be confusing. I will make one change at a time and clear descriptions in each merge request instead.13:44
reslzOnny: I really want to see Aaron's changes to BT calendar views and get those updates live as soon as possible. I'll ask Tony if he can review the changes because I think Aaron doesn't work on weekends but you only have weekends so it probably needs to be Tony to review them13:46
zOnnyresl: thanks for pointing that out13:51
zOnnyresl: have you look into what he has done?13:53
zOnnythomasboimah: quick question14:00
thomasboimahshoot14:16
zOnnythomasboimah: I'm understanding how much of migrations history mismatch we are after your last update to BT14:19
reslzOnny: I make merge requests to the target branch novawebdevelopment_v3.0-updates, not to base, right?14:28
reslzOnny: re: Aaron's updates, not yet, but I have begun the process of scheduling a call with him to see them14:28
reslthomasboimah: the merge request I just made is straightforward - I made zonny the reviewer for it but I think it is safe to merge on your own review too14:35
thomasboimahOkay, but i take a look at your feat/intern branch, and i have a little comment about that, if you can get on a call with me i can show you where i have some comment on14:38
reslI closed that request because of some issues with it. I think better not to work with that branch. I'm free for a call now though in either case - Signal, ok?14:42
zOnnyresl: got it14:44
thomasboimahcan we please do https://meet.mayfirst.org/websitemeeting, i will have to setup signal on this my new pc14:45
reslThe merge request I just made this morning though is ok to merge. I am struggling to force myself to make small changes one at a time. Even the last merge request has more in it than I want to include in one merge request. But I described them in the description.14:46
reslthomasboimah: Sure, I will use that link now.14:46
reslthomasboimah: the sound settings on your computer - if you can lower the input of your mic a bit, I might be able to hear you better - right now, there is a lot of background noise so I cannot make out what you are saying14:48
thomasboimahOkay14:48
reslthomasboimah: too hard to hear you with the background noise in that video call - but I will say what I was saying there in here for a minute about that closed merge request14:52
thomasboimahOkay14:52
reslthomasboimah: I think the horizontal hands is better than the vertical hands, but I also think the whole site needs to be re-designed, so instead of making those changes, for now I will just make simple changes and merge requests for each change, so that we get into a good rhythm like that. The re-design will be more of a dramatic change, which Sahnun will also be actively structuring14:54
thomasboimahThat sound good.. okay14:54
reslI'm new to working on a team so I am trying to learn how to make small changes, one at a time, with clear descriptions for others to review. Please disregard the first merge request - the one I closed. In Gitlab, I think that closing a merge request indicates it is no longer relevant and the branch can then be disregarded.14:55
thomasboimahYep14:56
reslI made a merge request this morning that is still somewhat too crowded but is much easier I hope to review and merge. It looks like I can accept my own merge requests, but I think we have all talked about wanting to lean on each other as much as possible so we are all working together and checking each other's work, so I will wait for others to review and merge that.14:56
thomasboimahsound good to me, i can help to review that once i done with the the issue you file for the intern role in BT15:00
reslthanks15:42
